We are looking for a skilled furniture and cabinet maker to join our team!

We are currently advertising to find a motivated and keen furniture maker who is interested in design and likes our work.

We are currently looking for a highly skilled furniture and cabinet maker with interest in the design and making of high-end contemporary furniture for residential and commercial projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, detailing and production of drawings for manufacturing, including CNC machining using 2D and 3D CAD
• Making of furniture items following CAD drawings
• on-site fitting of furniture

Essential criteria:

• Min 2 years experience in making high-end fitted and free-standing furniture
• high attention to detail
• experience in designing and detailing contemporary furniture using CAD software (Vectorworks preferred)
• on-site fitting experience
• High level of spoken and written English, good communication and team working skills
• interest in contemporary/ Scandinavian design
• interest in sustainability, specifically sustainable design and manufacture
• high motivation, good organisational skills, ability to use own initiative and work independently and efficiently
• clean driving license
• experience in rendering software desirable

We are looking for a candidate who is interested in growing into the role of a project leader overseeing jobs from initial design to completion, including:-

• Design and presentation of bespoke contemporary, high end furniture items
• estimating costs and timescale
• overseeing the making process
• coordination of suppliers/sub-contractors
• managing and mentoring junior designers/makers
• representing the company at client meetings and trade shows

Salary subject to experience, starting from £18,000.

wall hung storage furniture

Tandem launches a new custom made furniture series at Design Juncition 2014:

As part of a commission for several holiday lets at Gara Rock at the South Devon Coast near Salcombe we designed a number of open fronted, wall hung storage units including wardrobes, shelving and desks. We now have developed these into our latest range of furniture series, adding a shoe rack and offering many variations of different materials and colour options.

Here are some snaps of what we showed at the exhibition, just to offer a taste of different applications and combinations. Proper images, descriptions and prices to follow shortly.

cdw 2014 opens today - launch of new tandem products

Welcome to the launch of our new products at the Clerkenwell Design Week, opening today!

We are very excited to introduce our new armchair and matching 2 person sofa, both made with oak faced plywood frames and organic, handmade cushions from nearby Devon company Naturalmat.co.uk, who's ethos on production values and exceptional quality products we share - Naturalmat use only natural materials like organic lambswool from local sheep and make all of their products by hand in a factory surrounded by green fields and mooing cows in the Devon countryside! 

We have also developed a beautiful simple three-legged stacking stool with powder coated tubular steel legs and either wood veneer or linoleum faced shaped plywood seat; the perfect partner to our popular round, steel tubular legged table, which we are exhibiting with a rich, dark walnut top on the show. 

clerkenwell design week 20-22 May

This year we are exhibiting for the first time at the upcoming Clerkenwell Design Week. The exhibition  is open on 20-22 of May, 10am-9pm, and includes various venues around Clerkenwell EC1.
